Inspirational Leeds singer Bethany Hare launches recording career

Bethany Hare has helped raised around £190,000 for charities since a video of her aged 10 singing while dressed up as Charlie Chaplin went viral.

Now the 20-year-old singer from Horsforth is set to release her first single to launch what she hopes will be a successful career as a recording artist.

The ex-Horsforth School student, who has spent the past eight years singing for free at charity events across the country, is due to release the single called ‘The Idea of Love’ at the end of January.

She started fundraising in 2010 after a video of her singing the song Smile while dressed up as Charlie Chaplin went viral.

Bethany has raised around £40,000 for Martin House Children's Hospice at Boston Spa near Wetherby.

She was aged just 12 in 2012 she launched her own charity called Bethany's Smile, which directly supports children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses and their families.

Bethany is an ambassador for the charity, which has so far raised around £150,000.

Bethany, who is set to release the record under the name Bethannie, said: "It would be amazing to make it as an established artist and for people to recognise the music, to recognise it's me and for them to enjoy the music."

Bethany has sung at a string of prestigious events, including Hollywood actress Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Gala for Variety GB in London in 2015.

Bethany's signing talent was recognised at that event and songwriters and producers Robin Taylor-Firth and Steve Edwards contacted her.

They have written and produced Bethany's first single 'The Idea of Love' and are working with her on an album.

Steve Edwards, said: "It was a no brainer to write and produce a vision for Bethannie.

"I feel the songs reflect Bethannie’s heart and soul perfectly. From classic soul to pop, it’s all about great song writing and production, along with an amazing performance from Bethannie to tell the stories”.

Bethany’s work for charity has been recognised with a string of awards, including the Red Cross Humanitarian Citizen Prize and a Young Fundraiser of the Year title from the Just Giving organisation.

She was also invited to Downing Street after winning one of the Diana Awards that were set up in memory of the late Princess Diana to honour exceptional young people who go above and beyond the call of duty to help others.

Bethany's single 'The Idea of Love' is set to be released on January 31. and will be available on Spotify.
