Indie band delights fans in Leeds

Fans of indie rock band The Wombats packed a Leeds store to hear them play live this afternoon.

The Liverpool band, who are best known for the chart hits Moving to New York and Let’s Dance to Joy Division, performed an acoustic set at HMV Leeds to mark the release of their fourth studio album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life.

Loyal fans had copies of the album - given a three star rating by music bible NME - signed by the Anglo-Norwegian trio.

The band - which NME says remains “somehow bigger than ever” thanks to “a fervent fanbase and a continued festival presence” returns to Yorkshire next month.

The group, who met while at university in Liverpool, have two dates at the O2 Academy Sheffield on March 9 and March 17 as part of their upcoming UK tour.
