Hundreds queue before 6am for Next Boxing Day sale at Trinity Leeds

Hundreds of bargain-hungry shoppers were up before sunrise on Boxing Day to make the most of the Next sale.

A photo posted on Twitter by Jake Smyth shows hundreds of people snaking round Trinity Leeds in the queue for Next.

The retailer's annual post Christmas Day sale is a favourite around the country.

Jake posted: "Another year of absolute chaos! Check out the length of the #BoxingDay #boxingdaysales #BoxingDaySale #nextsale queue at 5:55am in Leeds!"

Nationally, Britons were expected to spend £200m less in the post-Christmas sales this year as environmental concerns drive down buying.

Some four in 10 UK adults were set to make the most of sales from Boxing Day, spending an average of £186 each and a total of £3.7bn, according to Barclaycard.

However, due to concerns about the environment, 62 per cent intend to make fewer purchases.
