How train strikes will affect Leeds United fans' journeys to Bolton on Saturday
Leeds United will be playing away against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday December 15 - but Northern Rail train strikes will affect journeys to the University of Bolton stadium.
Northern has announced details of the services it will operate for the RMT strike action on Saturday, 15 December and the subsequent two Saturdays.
This Saturday’s strike will be the 19th consecutive Saturday of strike action in 2018 and the RMT strike action, planned for 15, 22 and 29 December, will see Northern running approximately 700 services during each Saturday.
However, there will be very few Northern services running after 5pm.
Any fans from Leeds heading to the game may struggle to get a train ride back.
After the match, there are reduced Northern services running from Bolton to Leeds, with the last Northern train leaving Bolton at 17.35pm, less than an hour after the game is due to finish.
Those Northern services that do run, and other operators’ services, are expected to be extremely busy in the countdown to Christmas.
David Brown, Managing Director at Northern, said: "We expect all of our services, and those of other operators, to be extremely busy and are calling on our customers to plan their travel carefully for the coming weekend, check the new timetables well in advance, and make sure they do not rely on the last trains home.
