'Heroic' bus driver, police and passers-by rescue man from Leeds bridge

A man was saved from a tragedy on a Leeds bridge when a bus driver, passers-by and police heroically sprung into action.

West Yorkshire Police Chief's Superintendent Owen West praised the actions of those involved in the incident after the bus driver parked his vehicle beneath the bridge.

Police and passers-by then appeared to help the man.

Posting on Twitter, user Malik Walton said: "Dramatic rescue on a #Leeds bridge. Man saved by heroic action of passers-by, a bus driver and police officers."

Then Chief Supt Owen West added: "Typical of the range of incidents this week so far, many people living in crisis. Grateful to the passers by and all involved in resolution."
