The Hepworth: Family fun for fifth birthday celebration

In the five years since The Hepworth was officially opened, it has welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors through its doors.

And this weekend,it played host to five parties to mark its fifth anniversary.

The celebrations kicked off with a baby rave, followed by an afternoon of dance and music, including performances from the Northern Ballet, and Wakefield Community Gospel Choir.

Bands who will feature in this year’s Long Division music festival line up played to the crowds. The £35m gallery was officially opened on May 21, 2011.

David Liddiment, The Hepworth Wakefield chairman, said: “I’m immensely proud of what the team has achieved.

“I think the success of the gallery is evident in the numerous repeat visitors and the excellent satisfaction ratings we receive.”
