And they'll need to make sure to pick up a coat as the unseasonably mild weather is set to come to an abrupt end over the next couple of days.

Temperatures are expected to fall back down to around 4C tonight after peaking at 14C in Leeds during today.

There could also be a few showers over the weekend before hill fog arrives at the start of next week.

Today:

After some early brightness further east cloud will increase from the west where extensive fog and drizzly rain will develop over the Pennines. This rain may extend eastwards at times, though parts of the south may stay dry. Maximum temperature 14C.

Tonight:

Cloud thickening as a band of rain moves southwards across the region. However, after midnight drier, clearer conditions will move into the area from the northwest. Minimum temperature 4C.

Saturday:

Less mild. Some brightness at first before cloud increases from the south perhaps bringing some rain during the afternoon, heavy at times further south. Maximum temperature 9C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mostly dry with clear or sunny spells on Sunday. Cloudier on Monday and Tuesday perhaps with a little rain. Mild. Breezy at times. Hill fog over the Pennines.
