Harehills Road fire: Two people rescued from Leeds flat fire and treated by paramedics

Two people have been rescued and treated by paramedics after a fire broke out at a flat in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service were called to a flat above a commercial property on Harehills Road at 10pm on Wednesday.

One fire engine from Leeds Fire Station, two from Killingbeck and the aerial ladder appliance from Bradford were called out.

Firefighters rescued two people trapped inside the building, who were then treated by paramedics.

A fire spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.56pm yesterday, Wednesday September 30, to reports of a fire in a flat above a commercial premises on Harehills Road, Leeds.

"Four fire engines attended – one from Leeds Fire Station, two from Killingbeck Fire Station, and the aerial ladder appliance from Bradford.

"Crews rescued two people from the building and left them in the hands of the Ambulance Service."
