The CityFibre firm has put 120km of pure fibre infrastructure in place in Leeds that offers internet speeds up to 100 times faster than the UK average.

And, on Tuesday, July 12, the scheme’s Leeds roll-out provider, Diva Telecom, is holding an event at the Tetley building to give businesses an opportunity to better understand how they can benefit from it.

Diva Telecom managing director Erica Lewis said: “Diva Telecom has always looked ahead for innovative solutions and we understand that it is of crucial importance that businesses have ultra-fast connectivity to remain not only competitive but have the ability to succeed in an increasingly digital future.”

CityFibre says businesses in the centre of Leeds have previously been poorly served in terms of internet connectivity, with a shortage of fibre services limiting their digital capabilities.

The Tetley event will run from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. To register to attend, visit www.leeds-gigabit-city.eventbrite.co.uk.

Speaking earlier this year about CityFibre’s decision to add both Leeds and Bradford to its list of so-called Gigabit Cities, the firm’s chief executive Greg Mesch said: “As thirst for greater internet speeds continues to grow in all sectors, it’s fantastic to be able to offer cities the world-class digital infrastructure they need to meet the demand.

“As Gigabit Cities, Leeds and Bradford will be on the digital front foot, able to compete and succeed in a digital world.

“We have already invested over £70m in next generation digital infrastructure across the North, and now businesses in Leeds and Bradford will be able to capitalise on this to build better-connected, more innovative, companies.”
