The team-building contest for the hospice in Headingley will take place on Thursday, March 17 but businesses can register their interest online now.

Wheatfields’ fundraising assistant Faye Cryer said: “Each team will be given a series of challenges out in the community for the day. Each task you complete is worth a certain number of points and across the course of the day, the team that collects the most points will be crowned the overall winners. Think Challenge Anneka mixed with The Apprentice and you’ll be close to what we’re aiming for.

“Whether you are looking for a team building event, a volunteering opportunity or a learning and development day, this covers them all – all while benefiting your local hospice”.

“We hope people will leave the day feeling they are taking back some valuable outcomes from the day, feeling energised and with a sense of achievement knowing they have made a huge difference to the people we care for every year.”

Last year’s event was won by Ramsdens Solicitors. Associate solicitor Gareth Dando said: “It was a very different day with lots of fun activities. We met some great people out in the community. And all for a great cause as well.”

It costs £4m to run the hospice every year, and a significant part of this amount comes from donations and fundraising. The services at Wheatfields are free of charge to patients and their loved ones but in order to continue providing specialist care, the hospice needs to raise around £1.8m in donations every year.
