The latest addition to the city’s dining scene is Mediterranean offering Espeto.

The restaurant, on the corner of Wellington Street and Britannia Street, has moved into the former Elysium site.

Taking its name from the Portuguese word for ‘skewer’, it serves up marinated, fresh ingredients cooked on the skewer, including meat, seafood and vegetables.

It also has its own champagne cocktail bar, which will have live music on busier nights.

Nestled in the heart of the city’s Business Quarter, Espeto has the potential to do well – particularly with the nearby Central Square building opening in the near future, which will be home to thousands of office workers once completed.

Sadly the restaurant site hasn’t fared too well in the past, with Elysium and Italian restaurant Mio Modo both closing their doors in recent years.

But hopefully it’s a case of third time lucky for this spot just on the edge of the city centre.

Manager Elodie Rousset said: “We have changed a lot from the decor to the rooms. We’ve taken the pizza oven out and have made the room bigger at the back.

“We’re also offering an express lunch and takeaway option for office workers so they can have their food ready when they arrive.”

With the likes of Buca di Pizza, My Thai, Amigos and Juici Sushi in the area, this could soon be a new dining destination.
