Fromage the French way is a hit in the city
Le Chalet is a cute French cafe by day but by night it practices ‘L’Art du fromage’.
Businessman Bobby Parker and his girlfriend Noemie Tichic were eating out during a break in Paris and had the idea of bringing a bit of ‘ooo la la’ to the Park Row business district.
So by the end of December and within two weeks the restaurant, which takes over the tea room on a Friday and Saturday night, was launched.
It specialises in Raclette and Fondue - cheeses melted at the table and served over potatoes, vegetables, cornichons, charcuterie meats and baguettes.
Mr Parker said: “It has gone down really well. The feedback has been great and we are pretty much fully booked for January and February.
“It is quite interactive, sharing, constant grazing and you melt the cheese yourself. It is something different in England. A lot of people have seen it on buzzfeed and online but never really had it in Leeds so want to try it.”
He added they want to expand by doing more nights, pop-ups and eventually having a dedicated restaurant.
