Fries from the skies: Leeds sports bar to launch world's first food service by drone

While Deliveroo may be the new easy way to get your favourite food delivered, one Leeds bar is going one better by launching the world's first food service by drone.

Live Bar at Victoria Gate Casino has today unveiled plans for a pioneering 'Tweet-From-Your-Seat' drone waiter service, allowing customers to order a bowl of piping hot chips from the comfort of their seat at their own convenience.

The chips will then be delivered directly to customer's tables by drone, so they don't miss a minute of the action at the popular entertainment venue.

Speaking of the innovative new service, Hayley Smith, marketing manager at Victoria Gate Casino, which is the home of Live Bar, said: "In a state-of-the-art entertainment destination, it is vital that we keep up with technological advancements and strive to offer the very best service.

"We will make ordering as easy as possible with our new 'Tweet-From-Your-Seat' service - customers will be able to simply tweet using #FriesFromTheSkies along with their table number.

"It means they don't have to tear themselves away from watching the games on any of our 41 screens."

The venue is home to the biggest indoor screen in the city and shows all of the major matches, fights and games in the sporting calendar.

With a 24 hour menu across all of its bars and gaming areas already in place, it is hoped the new service will help to improve efficiency and reduce customer's waiting time, so they can enjoy all of the sporting action uninterrupted.

The venue plans to train all of its waiting staff as drone operators, so they will be fully qualified to ensure each portion of fries travels from the kitchen to the table in a matter of minutes.

Details of when the service will officially launch have yet to be announced, but it is expected to be up and running in the coming months.
