Flagship store teams up with local suppliers

the Leeds branch of John Lewis has teamed up with a local tailor and fabric mill adding to its current raft of Yorkshire suppliers.

The collaboration is with Abraham Moon & Sons, a woollen and worsted fabric mill based in Guiseley which weaves all its cloths in Yorkshire, and men’s tailoring manufacturer Berwin & Berwin, whose original factory was just 200m away from the new John Lewis shop in Victoria Gate.

The range, which was created bespoke for the Leeds store, includes a variety of traditional herringbones, Donegal across tailored jackets, trousers and waistcoats.

It comes as part of the John Lewis’ commitment to back British and local manufacturers and suppliers and there are already at least 120 Yorkshire based products in the Leeds John Lewis.

Nasif Choudhury, menswear buyer from John Lewis said: “Berwin & Berwin is our biggest tailoring supplier across the UK, and so when the Leeds shop was given the go ahead it was great to be able to get the wheels in motion to create a range specifically for their home store.

“We are very proud to be able to work with two companies that have such strong roots in Leeds, and be part of the rich textile heritage of the city.”
