Fire breaks out at Leeds high rise in middle of the night

Firefighters were called to an east Leeds high rise building in the middle of the night after a fire broke out in a flat.

It happened at the Appleton Square block in Appleton Way, Burmantofts, at around 3am on Monday morning.

Firefighters put out the small fire before leading one person from the flat to safety.

Paramedics gave the occupier a precautionary check up.
