Featherstone Rovers v Barrow: Rovers gearing up to kick on after putting poor run of form to bed

BOSS JOHN Duffy reckons Featherstone Rovers have put a poor month behind them and are ready to build their form for the business end of the season.

Rovers broke a run of four straight defeats – three in the league and a Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie – when they won 42-18 at Dewsbury Rams last week.

With other results going in their favour, Duffy’s side climbed two places to third in the Betfred Championship, but they are just two points ahead of fifth-placed London Broncos and Leigh Centurions, who are sixth, with seven games remaining before the competition splits.

“We are coming to the business end,” said Duffy ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Barrow Raiders (3pm).

“We’ve got to finish the season in form and hopefully get to where we need to be, in the top-four. It is all on us, really.”

The task for tomorrow is to kick on from the victory and performance six days ago. Duffy reflected: “I thought we were on it again.

“I thought the quickness of the game and the way we played really suited us and we got what we needed out of it. We got a bit of confidence back after a bad month and we have got to build on that and keep getting wins.

“We reined it in a bit last week, we were really composed, our kicking game was good and Anthony Thackeray was outstanding. That’s something to build on this week.”
