Police have launched an investigation after a man's body was found in a Leeds street.

West Yorkshire Police were called to Fairford Avenue, Beeston, shortly before 2.30pm today (Thursday) following a report of concern for someone's safety.

A man's body was found.

Police have closed the street as they investigate the man's death.

A police spokesperson said: "At 2.26pm this afternoon officers were called to a concern for safety at Fairford Avenue, Beeston.

"A man's body was found.

"A scene is in place whilst forensic examinations take place."
