Emergency services deal with incident at Cross Gates railway station as train lines blocked between Leeds and York

The incident happened at about 1pm on Monday, May 3.

Trains services that run through the station between Leeds and York and Leeds and Hull were cancelled.

Replacement buses were in operation.

At the time a spokesperson for TransPennine Express said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Cross Gates, trains between Leeds and York are affected and all lines are blocked.

"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.

A spokesperson for Northern added: " Due to emergency services dealing with an incident, services between Leeds - York & Leeds - Hull in both directions will be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

"Disruption is expected until 4pm.

"Replacement transport will operate 12:45 Leeds - Hull calling at Cross Gates, Garforth, East Garforth, Micklefield, South Milford, Selby and stations as required to Hull 12:45 York - Leeds calling at Micklefield, East Garforth, Garforth and Cross Gates."

At 3pm, Northern issued an update, which said: "Disruption caused by the emergency services dealing with an incident between Leeds and Micklefield has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem."

British Transport Police has been contacted for more information.
