Floral tributes laid at Leeds tower block after pregnant woman's death as baby 'delivered at hospital'

West Yorkshire Police confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) that the woman died but her baby was “delivered at hospital” after the incident at Shakespeare Towers, Burmantofts.
The infant was yesterday receiving critical care, the force said in a statement issued to the media.

Hide AdFlowers have now been laid at the scene in tribute to the woman following her death. One of the bouquets contained a message, which said: “You will be missed.”


The police statement yesterday said: “At 10.24am, police were contacted by the ambulance service who had been called to an incident where a woman had fallen from height at Shakespeare Towers, in Shakespeare Approach, Burmantofts.
“The woman died at the scene as result of her injuries.
“There were no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.
“The woman, aged in her thirties, was in the late stage of pregnancy and her baby was delivered at hospital after the incident and is receiving critical care.”
The force has been approached for an update.
