In what will go down as one of the city’s music events of the year, the GRAMMY award winner delighted crowds at Leeds’ first direct arena with new tracks from his 32nd studio album, Wonderful Crazy Night, as well as old classics from his astounding back catalogue.

With a career spanning over 50 years, Elton is still one of the most famous names in music, with a number of BRITs, an Oscar and a Tony Award to his name as well as more than 250 million records sold worldwide. There had been fears the flamboyant star may have been unable to perform due to an illness which caused the cancellation of a number of shows.

But after resting at home, the 70-year-old was expected to make a full recovery.

On his social media, he said at the time: “I’m resting well and getting stronger every day. I’m looking forward to getting back on tour in June.”
