East Leeds: A top class welcome from pupils as mascots drop by

PUPILS at an east Leeds school learnt about building site safety when they were visited by construction industry mascots Ivor and Honor Goodsite.

The visit to Wykebeck Primary took place as construction firm Walter Thompson continues work on a new £7.5m Bupa care home at the corner of Harehills Lane and York Road.

Walter Thompson contracts manager Jason Henderson said: “A building site can appear like a playground to children and as a responsible contractor, it is vital that we make children aware of the dangers of playing on a building site, particularly when the school is located nearby.”

Jason added: “As a family-run, long-established construction company we pride ourselves on the relationships we establish with people or organisations neighbouring our sites, which was why we wanted to visit the school.”
