Days Out: Kelham Museum, Sheffield

The Sheffield museum’s 24th annual Victorian Christmas Market returns, where visitors can wander the cobbled streets and pick up festive treats from more than 130 stalls.
From its humble beginnings as a community market, the event has grown significantly and now welcomes around 15,000 visitors over the two days. It features local, handmade goods and promotes traditional crafts, skills, creatives and performers.

Children go free, so bring them to see Santa in his workshop where they can help the army of elves decorate the Christmas trees and write a letter full of festive wishes to give to the man himself. Keep an eye out for his reindeer along the way.
While you’re there, why not take time to explore the museum itself?
Celebrating the steel city’s industrial heritage, Kelham Island Museum sits on a 900-year-old man-made island on the banks of the River Don. You’ll see the mighty River Don Engine, which is the most powerful working steam engine in Europe and more than 100,000 fascinating objects that make up the renowned Hawley Tool Collection.
