Main story. Calls came today for criminal charges after court records were falsified as part of a “systematic covering up of errors” at Leeds Magistrates’ Court. MP claims courts, police and prosecutors were in collusion in a “deliberate” attempt to withdraw arrest warrants which should not have been withdrawn. Warrants were withdrawn by legal advisors form 555 offenders suspected of up to 1,709 crimes. Some of the withdrawn warrents related to cases of indecent assault and common assault. Justice Secretary Jack Straw blames the “shambolic” way in which local magistrates ran the former magistrates court committee.
