Customers told to go online as Leeds bank branch shuts

Santander’s branch on Otley Road, Guiseley, will shut on June 15, customers have been told. They have been told that Santander services are available in Yeadon, Baildon or Otley.

In a letter, divisional managing director Richard Owen said “a detailed review” had been carried out about the changing needs of customers.

“I understand this may be a significant change for you and I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause,” he wrote in a letter to local Santander account holders. The letter advised people to use mobile, telephone or online banking as an alternative. It added: “With both online and mobile banking, you can set up free alerts to keep you informed about your account balances, deposits and payments.”
