Crown Point Shopping Park police incident: Leeds city centre roads closed and teenager in hospital with serious injuries following car crash

A teenager has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash in Leeds city centre this afternoon (Wednesday).

The incident happened at around 3.45pm today near to the Crown Point Shopping Park.

It involved one car and the teenage boy who was taken to hospital.

The A61 is closed both ways between the A653 and Meadow Lane which is causing heavy traffic, according to the AA.

The congestion goes right to Hunslet Road and Victoria Road and is also near Swinegate, Bridge End and Black Bull Street in the city centre.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "There’s been a collision near Crown Point Shopping Park and road closures are in place.

"The collision involved a car and a teenage boy.

"The boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries."

The full details on AA traffic news maps are as follows: "Road closed and heavy traffic due to accident on A61 both ways between A653 and Meadow Lane.

"Congestion to Hunslet Road and Victoria Road.

"Also Swinegate, Bridge End and Black Bull Street.

"Accident happened around 15:45"
