Crowds thrilled by bike races


Youngsters, men and women took to the town’s streets last night as part of the thrilling cycling extravaganza.
The challenging 1.5km race, which included a high speed finish on The Grove, was open to both elite cyclists and beginners.

Hide AdA spokesman for the organisers said the event had been a success. “We had a good crowd, about the same as the numbers who turned out last year for the inaugural event,” he said.
“The weather was good for us but we did have a delay due to an accident and a spot of rain.”
The event included a challenging 1.5km circuit around Riddings Road hill with a high-speed finish along The Grove. There were under-14s, under-16s, women’s and men’s races.
