Woman trapped in car and taken to hospital after Barwick in Elmet crash - as one vehicle overturns

A woman has been taken to hospital after being trapped in her vehicle following a two-car crash where one of them overturned.

The crash happened at around 3.20pm on Friday afternoon in Barwick in Elmet..

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports that one of the two cars involved in the crash on Carrfield Road was overturned and on its roof.

The fire service released a woman from one of the vehicles and she was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Two fire pumps from Killingbeck attended the incident and the Technical Rescue Unit and support crew from Cleckheaton was also mobilised but was returned before it arrived.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Road traffic collision involving 2 cars with reports that 1 was on its roof.

"On arrival it was found that 1 female was trapped, casualty has been released from vehicle by fire service personnel and then transported to hospital by ambulance.

"2 pumps Killingbeck.

"The Technical Rescue Unit and support crew from Cleckheaton was also mobilised but was returned prior to arrival.
