Woman suffers serious head injury after being hit by a bin lorry on Kirkstall Road

A woman has suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a bin lorry in Leeds.

It happened at about 10.15am on Friday, October 30 on Kirkstall Road, near to Leeds Fire Station and the Holiday Inn.

The Dennis bin lorry was travelling from the city centre when it hit the pedestrian.

She was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

The woman - who has not yet been identified - remains in hospital.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Any witnesses to the collision, or the movements of the woman or the lorry immediately prior to it, is asked to contact PC 6042 Gibson at the Eastern Roads Policing Unit on 101 or by using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website.

Anyone with dash cam or mobile phone footage which can assist the investigation is also asked to get in touch, quoting log reference 438 of 30 October.
