Woman rescued from River Aire near Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds

A woman has been rescued from the River Aire near to Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Abbey Road at about 11.20am.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue service confirmed that two water rescue teams were at the scene.

Two fire engines from Cookridge and Rawdon also attended.

The woman was rescued from the water.

She is in the hands of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that they were also in attendance.
