Woman rescued after falling in River Aire in Leeds

Police received a call at 1.30pm following reports of a woman in the water.

An eye-witness said he saw one police van and three officers walking briskly along the canal.

Firefighters rushed to the scene on Gotts Road near City Island at about 1.47pm.

The fire service rescued one woman from the water.

She was left in the care of the ambulance service.
