Woman grabbed by man who tried to sexually assault her in Farsley park

A sex attacker tried to assault a woman while walking through a park in Leeds.

The woman was in Hainsworth Park in Farsley on Saturday when she was grabbed by the man as she walked onto New Park Walk.

The man tried to sexually assault her in the terrifying incident, which occurred at 22.25pm.

Luckily, the victim managed to escape and alerted the police.

She suffered minor injuries but was left shaken by the ordeal.

West Yorkshire Police is now appealing for any information on the attack, as detectives try to trace the offender.

He has been described as a white male, aged in his late 20s to early 30s and of average build. He was wearing a dark hoodie and trainers at the time of the attack.

Detective Inspector Amanda Wimbles of Leeds District CID said: "We are treating this incident very seriously and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"This was clearly a very upsetting ordeal for the victim and she is being supported by specially trained officers.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who has seen any males fitting the description acting suspiciously to make contact with us.

"We are carrying out a number of enquiries and are working closely with the local neighbourhood policing team to provide reassurance."
