Cocaine-fuelled Leeds pervert jailed after raping woman - leaving her 'petrified to leave her home'

A rapist high on cocaine who attacked her woman in her own bed as she slept has been jailed.

Kyle Whitelaw was found guilty after a trial at Leeds Crown Court and sentenced this week.

The 32-year-old was told by Judger Robin Mairs that his actions were “fuelled by cocaine and sexual entitlement”, even after the woman spurned his advances and tried to fight him off.

In a victim impact statement, read to the court by prosecutor Ian Goldsack, the victim said she was left “petrified to leave her home” and scared to be around men.

She also said she felt “shame, guilt and self blame” despite recognising it was not her fault, and was left feeling “dirty, ashamed and exposed”.

Whitelaw, of Tinshill Lane, Horsforth, had been on remand since his trial. He has previous convictions but mainly for driving offences in Belgium.

The court heard that he had been with pals on a night out in September 2021 while the victim was also with her friends.

The groups then went back to her address where they continued drinking.

In the early hours, Whitelaw followed the woman when she went to bed and he made a crude comment about them having sex, and she said “no, in no uncertain terms”.

But after she fell asleep, he removed her clothes and raped her.

She tried to resist but when she realised it was “futile”, she froze, Judge Mairs told Whitelaw.

He then quickly left the premises and she was left sobbing.

Judge Mairs told him: “The responsibility for this offending lies solely and completely at your door. It’s had a drastic effect on her life.”

He jailed Whitelaw for six years and put him on the sex offender register for the rest of his life.
