Woman arrested for drug driving after two pedestrians hit by Audi in Leeds

A woman has been arrested for dangerous and drug driving after two pedestrians were hit by a car in Allerton Bywater.

The crash happened shortly after 3pm yesterday (Thursday) on Leeds Road, near the junction with Carlton View.

Two pedestrians, a 70-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, were hit by a black Audi TT.

Both were rushed to LGI with serious injuries where they are continuing to receive treatment today.

The driver of the Audi, a 44-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs. She remains in custody.

Police closed Leeds Road for investigation and it remained closed for more than four hours.

Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it, particularly anyone with any dashcam footage of the Audi in the area in the time leading up to the collision.

They also want to trace a potential witness who was a cyclist towing a bike trailer.
