Wanted man assaults police officer on Wakefield Precinct before running away

A man, who was found to be wanted, has assaulted a police community support officer in Wakefield and then run away.

A man in Wakefield assaulted a police community support officer before running away

The officer was assaulted in Wakefield before the man was caught a few minutes after by a response team.

The same police officer was then able to identify the man which showed he was wanted.

The wanted man had gone back to his flat and came to the door when police officers arrived.

A tweet thread from PC Rushton who works on a Neighbourhood Policing Team in Wakefield said: "Busy last hour.

"SORRY to anyone I made jump with the siren on Wakefield Precinct. A PCSO was assaulted then the male attempted to run away.

"Caught a few minutes later by Response team

"Then the same PCSO identified one of the males, checks showed he was wanted.

"The male had already gone back to his flat so the big red key was called.

"Luckily he saw sense and came to the door."
