Urgent search for man who murdered Leeds woman wanted on recall to prison

A man who murdered a woman in Leeds has been recalled to prison after being released on licence.

William Kerr, 59, was found guilty of the murder of Maureen Comfort in Leeds in January 1996.

She had been strangled.

He was released from prison on licence in August 2020.

However, his licence has been revoked and he has now been recalled to custody.

North Yorkshire Police said they are urgently searching for him.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are urgently searching for a man who has been recalled to prison.

"Kerr is known to have connections across Yorkshire.

"Please contact us straight away if you see him, or know where he is.

"To provide information, dial 101 - for an immediate sighting, dial 999."
