Two men have been seriously injured after they were stabbed by a group of men in Leeds, police said as they launched an appeal.

Shortly before 11pm on Friday (April 23) police received reports of the incident in York Road, Leeds.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, were found to have received knife wounds when they were attacked by a group of men near to the junction of York Road and Back Victoria Grove at about 10.30pm.

Both victims were treated at hospital for injuries that were serious but not life threatening, police confirmed.

A scene was put in place to undergo forensic examination and detectives from Leeds District CID are continuing to carry out enquiries into the incident.

While enquiries to establish the circumstances remain at an early stage, there is nothing at this point to suggest a link to any other previous incidents, police believe.
