Tributes paid to two women who died in tragic Thorner crash

Tributes and flowers have been left at the scene of a tragic car crash which killed two women in Leeds.

Police received a call from paramedics at the scene of the crash in Carr Lane, Thorner, at 7.30am on Thursday October 29.

A black Renault Clio had hit a tree and police believe the collision happened at 1am.

Despite receiving medical treatment, two 30-year-old women died at the scene.

Floral tributes were left at the scene,with bunches of flowers tied to a damaged tree and laid around its base.

Messages of condolence were also shared on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Facebook page.

Catherine Williams said: "I know one of these ladies. 2 small children left without a mother. So tragic RIP."

Nicole Fish said: "Rip ladies you will be missed by many, Moortown will never be the same."

Neil Abbott said: “So sad for two such young ladies to lose their lives. Absolutely devastating for their families.”

Kelly Haddington said: "God bless there souls so young. Thinking about all the family at this tragic time"

West Yorkshire Police have launched a full investigation into the crash and specially trained officers are supporting the families of the two women.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the Renault Clio or who may have dashcam footage of the car.

It was last seen on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds, at about 12.50am on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy from the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: "We are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision which has sadly resulted in the death of two women.

"We have specially trained officers with their families at this difficult time.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Carr Lane area of Thorner yesterday morning from around 1am and who saw the vehicle to come forward and speak to us.

"We understand that the vehicle was last seen at approximately 12.50am (October 29) on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds."
