A man accused of murder over the fatal stabbing of another man at a house in Beeston has apeared before Leeds Crown Court.

Paul Kavanagh, 57, appeared before the court today (April 14) over the death of 51-year-old Jamie Giles.

Mr Giles died after being stabbed at a property on Bismarck Street on Thursday April 8.

Kavanagh, of Bismarck Street, appeared in court via a video link from prison for the brief hearing.

The no plea was entered and no application for bail was made.

Kavanagh will next appear in court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on May 10.

A provisional trial date was set for November 22.

A trial is expected to last around five days if Kavanagh pleads not guilty.

Kavanagh was told he will remain in custody until his next appearance before the court.
