Thugs jailed for starting Leeds pub brawl that left man seriously injured

Pub thugs started a mass brawl that left a man with fractures to his eye socket.

Declan Aldridge and Kayle McGhie were both jailed for their part in the Guiseley fracas, with John Davey receiving a suspended sentence.

All three had been found guilty of affray after a trial at Leeds Crown Court, with Aldridge and McGhie being found guilty of Section 18 GBH with intent, and Davey found guilty of Section 20 GBH without intent.

Violent Aldridge, 31, also admitted Section 20 GBH from a different incident in which he threw a glass into a woman’s face in a pub, and ABH after running down a man in his car during an argument.

The court heard that all three defendants had been drinking in the Station pub, on Otley Road, Guiseley, on the evening of May 26, 2023.

A member of staff approached them to ask about a sandwich that had been thrown in the car park, but they became irate, with Aldridge trying to grab the man’s shirt.

The staff member retreated and asked the door staff to intervene, who walked over to the table.

Aldridge was heard to say: “I’m going to f*** everyone up.”

He threw the first punch at the doorman and the brawl erupted.

Lasting around 90 seconds, chairs bottles and glasses were thrown.

The three defendants then quickly left, with McGhie and Davey getting into a car and Aldridge running off.

The defendants denied wrongdoing but the incident was caught on CCTV and played to the jury during their trial.

While under investigation, Aldridge, of Butler Lane, Baildon, Bradford, went on to attack a woman in the Garden Bar in Baildon on March 16, 2024.

After a dispute in which they poured a drink over each other, Aldridge then hurled the glass at her, hitting her to the face. It left a permanent scar to her nose.

Then on June 15 last year, he attacked a man on Richard Whiteley Drive in Baildon, punching him to the “face four of five times” before driving into him with his car.

Aldridge has 13 previous convictions for 29 offences.

McGhie, 38, of Main Street, Wilsden, Bingley, has 16 convictions for 29 offences.

Davey, 31, of Robin Close, Bradford, has three convictions for three offences.

Judge Ray Singh gave Aldridge a 78-month sentence, with a three-year extended licence period after he found him to be “dangerous”.

McGhie was jailed for 62 months and Davey was handed a 16-month sentence, suspended for two years with 20 rehabilitation days and 240 hours of unpaid work to complete.

He was also given a mental-health treatment requirement.
