Leeds thug put woman through 'disgraceful' 18-hour violent ordeal

He punched, kicked and spat at her refusing to let her leave bedroom

A thug spent hours attacking a terrified woman, degrading her and threatening her and her family with violence.

Bradley Sharpe chillingly told her: “I’m going to beat you to death and enjoy every second of it.”

The judge at Leeds Crown Court, Recorder Ella Anderson told him: “You subjected her to an horrific and terrifying ordeal.

“It was absolutely disgraceful behaviour.”

The 21-year-old admitted two counts of ABH, but under the new relaxed laws, was spared from immediate custody.

The court heard that the ordeal began on the evening of May 27, 2024.

She was eventually able to get away and raise the alarm.

Sharpe, of Ramshead Crescent, Seacroft, was arrested and denied offending during his police interview, even after he was shown photographs of the marks and bruises he had inflicted.

In a victim impact statement, the victim said the events of that night had a “lasting impact” on her, and still struggles to sleep.

She said: “He locked me in a room for 18 hours and made me fear for my life. He told me he was going to kill me.

“I was so scared. I was praying to God to help me.”

Mitigating, James Holding said a car crash had been a “turning point” for Sharpe, that his vehicle had been struck and the other driver then threatened him.

He said Sharpe was forced to get back into his smashed car and flee. It led to panic attacks and low moods.

He was also smoking cannabis heavily at the time.

Mr Holding said Sharpe had trained as an electrician and now works as a roofer with his father.

Recorder Anderson told Sharpe: “I hope you understand the severity of your actions over those two days. I’m extremely troubled by this case.

“The facts of the case are awful. It was degrading behaviour.”

She gave him a 32-month sentence, suspended for three years, ordered him to complete a domestic violence-awareness course, a mental-health treatment requirement and 200 hours of unpaid work.

She warned him: “I want to make absolutely clear to you, if you breach this order and throw away this chance I’m giving you by the skin of your teeth, you will be brought back before me.

“Make no mistake, I will have no hesitation in activating that sentence.”
