A teenager has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on Stanningley Road in Leeds.

Police and ambulance were called to the incident at around 4.21pm, near the junction with Cockshott Lane in Armley.

The collision involved a teenage female pedestrian and a white VW car.

The teenager suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police officers have closed Stanningley Road inbound towards Leeds and advise drivers to avoid the area.

First Bus services X6, 72 and X11 are diverting via Green Hill Road, Town Street and then resuming the normal route.

Services X14 and 86 will divert via Henconner Lane, Green Hill Road and Armley Town Street.
