A teenager caught selling deadly Class A drugs was then caught again while on bail.

Michael Maloney was jailed this week after admitting a string of offences, including supplying drugs and dangerous driving after he tried to flee police while hurling substances out of the window.

The 18-year-old appeared at Leeds Crown Court over a video link from HMP Doncaster where he was being held on remand.

Police had been called to Beeston on November 11, 2023, by a PCSO assistance after they had detained Maloney, who was 16 at the time.

Oddly, he had been wearing several layers of clothing, including three pairs of trousers and a stab vest.

He was found to have a small amount of cannabis, cash and a dealer list on him, prosecutor Matthew Moore-Taylor said.

Having been taken to the police station, he was searched further and found to have a knife in his underwear and 30 wraps of cocaine and crack cocaine.

After giving a no-comment interview, he was released.

Then on June 15, 2025, police tried to stop a Ford Mondeo being driven by Maloney, but he drove away at speed.

During a chase there was white powder being thrown from the driver’s side, with brown powder being hurled from the passenger’s side. He was driving at 70mph in 30mph zones.

It only came to a stop when he turned into an industrial estate and drove into a dead end.

But four months later, in the early hours of October 26, a black Vauxhall Corsa was stopped by police with Maloney inside.

Inside the vehicle was £650 worth of cocaine and £2,500 worth of heroin. Maloney was arrested again and held on remand.

Overall, he admitted two counts of dealing in Class A drugs, dangerous driving, driving while banned, having no insurance, possession of a bladed article, two counts of possession of cannabis and possession of criminal property.

Maloney, of no fixed address, was found guilty after a trial of the 2023 offences - two counts of dealing in Class A drugs.

Mitigating, Eddison Flint said Maloney had become addicted to drugs at the age of 16 and pressured into dealing.

He said: “At 18, he has a bit of appreciation for his offending behaviour.

“There’s two paths for him to go down - one leads him to spend his 20s in and out of prison. The other is to live a law-abiding life.”

He said Maloney had a good work ethic and wanted to be a bricklayer.

The judge, Recorder Ella Anderson jailed him for a total of 37 months, and gave him a driving ban of more than 42 months.
