Supect throws sawn-off shotgun into Leeds garden as he flees police

A loaded sawn-off shot gun was thrown into the garden of a Leeds house by a suspect as he fled from police.

Officers pursued a white Ford Focus after becoming suspicious of the vehicle in South Accommodation Road, Cross Green, at 9.55pm last night. The car drove off from roads policing officers who indicated for it to stop.

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds District CID, said: “A man then ran from the vehicle and was seen to throw an item into the garden of house in Thornleigh Mount. Officers recovered a loaded sawn-off shotgun and a number of cartridges.

“The scene has been undergoing a search and forensic examination and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation.”
