Serious crash between car and pedestrian in Halifax leaves elderly man in hospital

An elderly man is in hospital with serious injuries after his car crashed into a person walking in Halifax.

The 73-year-old man was driving a red and black Renault Captur when he collided with the pedestrian on Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene on Keighley Road in Halifax at around 8:50am.

The pedestrian suffered minor industries and was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The driver was taken to Calderdale Royal hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone who has dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision on Keighley Road Halifax.

"Officers were called at 08.51 yesterday morning (Tuesday 5 January) to reports a car had been in collision with a pedestrian.

"The red and black Renault Captur was travelling towards Halifax Town centre when it was in collision with a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

"The driver of the Renault Captur a 73 year old man was taken to Calderdale Royal hospital with serious injuries.

"Officers would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam of the incident to come forward.
