Seacroft bus stop police scene remains in place as tributes paid to 'lovely young lady'

Tributes have been paid to a 19-year-old Leeds woman as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

The woman, named locally as Chelsea Blair, was found unconscious at a bus stop in South Parkway, Seacroft, shortly after 5am on Wednesday.

She was taken by ambulance to hospital, where she died a short time later.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and police previously appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The scene remained cordoned off with police tape this morning and a single bunch of red carnations had been laid there.

But many heartfelt tributes have been paid online by friends and family, who described the former East Leeds Academy pupil as a "lovely young lady".

Writing on the YEP's Facebook page, her cousin Katie Blair Morris said: "Such terrible, terrible news. She was loved so deeply."

Sue Ellen Draper said her son had known Chelsea when they were younger, adding: "She was a lovely girl. I’m devastated to hear this. Rest in peace angel."

Offering her condolences to the family, Stacey Longbottom said: "I worked with Chelsea. She was such a lovely young lady."

Lyndsey Kay wrote: "So sad. Such a beautiful young girl. Thoughts are with her family and friends."

Debra Eden said: "Chelsea was a lovely girl who I will remember with much fondness."

Although the cause of her death has yet to be confirmed, family members did reference Chelsea's struggle with ill mental health.

Thanking people for their kind messages of support, her father Paul Blair said: "Chelsea tried hard over a long time. I will miss her so much. I'm devastated."

And Stephanie Lauren Wray wrote: "She was amazing I had the pleasure of knowing Chelsea and classed her as a friend. I’m so sorry the mental health system let her down so badly."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said a post mortem examination was due to take place today.
