Sadistic Leeds paedophile handed 28-year jail sentence for abusing and torturing children
A sadistic paedophile who spent decades abusing young children and even torturing them by electrocution has been jailed.
Sick Alan Wood abused six children, mainly boys, from around 1980 to 2010, enticing them to his home with toys and video games.
He would then bribe them into performing degrading sex acts and would even torture them for sexual gratification.
The 60-year-old denied wrongdoing despite multiple victims coming forward to give evidence.
He was found guilty of more than 40 offences following a trial at Leeds Crown Court and was jailed today for a total of 28 years.
The court heard that Wood, of King Edward Avenue, Horsforth, suffered from cerebral palsy that affected the right of his body and his speech.
Judge Ray Singh told him: “Despite your limitations and disabilities, it did not stop you from wholesale sexual abuse of predominantly young children.
“The effects upon your victims has been devastating.”
He said there had been “significant grooming behaviour” by Wood, gaining not only the trust of the children but their parents, portraying himself as helpful member of the community.
He would invite the children to his home having bought all the latest games, Star Wars toys and video games. He would also help fix the children’s bikes.
Judge Singh said his home became an “extremely attractive place” for youngsters.
He would start the abuse by forcing the youngsters watch pornographic videos, then bribe them by telling them if they wanted to play with certain toys or games they must obey him, and let him abuse them.
It went from sexual touching to rape and attempted rape. Some of his victims were as young as seven.
But once Wood had gained trust, he became a “cruel , threatening and unkind”. He would even electrocute some of his victims with an electric box, causing some of the children to wet themselves.
He would declare his love for them and tell them the abuse was their secret.
Five of his victims were boys, one was a young girl and the final victim was a vulnerable woman.
Wood was found guilty of two counts of rape, seven counts of attempted rape, 27 counts of indecent assault, one of sexual assault, possessing prohibited images, assault by penetration of a boy , sexual assault of a boy under 13 and two counts of gross indecency.
Judge Singh jailed him for 27 years, with a one-year extended licence period. He was told he must serve at least two-thirds of the 27 years before being considered for parole.
He was also put on the sex offender register for life.
