Police warn of increase in garage burglaries in Roundhay

West Yorkshire Police has warned of an increase in garage burglaries in north east Leeds.

Officers have responded by distributing crime prevention packs in the Roundhay area.

Included is a SelectaDNA so that high value items, such as bikes, can be marked with a unique code - making them easier to trace.

Police now hope to continue to distribute the kits at future neighbourhood policing community days.

It comes after police appealed for information when two bikes were burgaled from a garage in Leeds.

North east Leeds officers told residents about the crime prevention packs in a social media post that said: "We have seen an increase in garage burglaries and officers have been distributing crime prevention packs in the Roundhay area.

"Included is SelectaDNA so high value items such as bikes can be marked with a unique code.

"We hope to distribute these kits at future NPT community days."
