"Much-requested" parking patrols were carried out on East Chevin Road in Otley on January 17.

The West Yorkshire Police Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team found that 14 vehicles were parked obstructively at the hotspot on this day.

The vehicles were parked in a way that could "obstruct the flow of traffic or view of other drivers and/ or pedestrians".

Police are pleading with the public to make use of public carparks when visiting Otley Chevin, and to review parking to ensure it will not cause any sort of obstruction.

This comes after police received "inconsiderate and dangerous" parking complaints at a different hotspot in North Leeds just last week.

Police have also warned about dangerous parking at a Leeds nature reserve recently.

The warnings come after the introduction of the third national lockdown.

Matt Hancock was pressed at a Downing Street press conference about whether people should exercise seven miles from their home during the lockdown.

The Health Secretary said: “Yes, you can go and exercise in the park with one other person, but only one other person.

“And we have been seeing large groups and that is not acceptable. And you should be two metres apart from the other person.

“If there are too many people breaking this rule then we are going to have to look at it.

“But, I don’t want to do that because, for many people being able to go for a walk with a friend, that often is their only social contact.

“It is OK to go for a walk with one other person around a park, but you should stay two metres apart from that other person.

“And, likewise, it is OK, if you went for a long walk and ended up seven miles away from home, that is OK.

“But, you should stay local, you should not go from one side of a country to another, potentially taking the virus with you.”

A post on the West Yorkshire Police Leeds North West Facebook page said: "Yesterday, 17th January, Officers from your local NPT continued the much-requested parking patrols on East Chevin Road, Otley.

"On this occasion, 14 vehicles were found to be parked in a manner that could obstruct the flow of traffic or the view of other drivers and/or pedestrians.

"Please make use of the public carparks where possible when visiting Otley Chevin.

"Where this is not possible, please review your parking to ensure that it will not cause any sort of obstruction to any other motorists or pedestrians."
