Police in Headingley give Kevin Sinfield guard of honour as he completes seven marathons for Rob Burrow and MND

The Leeds Rhinos legend and director of rugby has just finished his seventh marathon in three hours and 41 minutes.

On Sunday morning, Leeds North West neighborhood policing team (NPT) were joined by officers from the Roads Policing Unit as Sinfield completed his penultimate marathon.

They formed a guard of honour outside Headingley Stadium as Sinfield finished his sixth marathon in three hours and 48 minutes.

The Leeds North West NPT tweeted a picture of officers welcoming Sinfield into the ground.

A spokesperson said: "Local NPT and RPU officers were honoured to welcome Kevin Sinfield home to Headingley at the end of his penultimate 7 in 7 marathons, which he is completing to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease."

Sinfield has now raised an incredible £1million for his friend Rob Burrow and the MND Association.

Speaking after Sunday's effort, Sinfield told of the "immense" support he has been given by the city of Leeds, including from firefighters at Kirkstall Road.

Sinfield said: "If you'd had said this to me five weeks ago when we started to put this together, that we'd be six days in and have hit all the times, I'd have been absolutely made up.

"The support we've had has been incredible. With the JustGiving page, we were absolutely made up with £77,000 - for it to do what it's done has been unbelievable.

"It's been so special - it's been one of the best weeks of my life."
