Police discover more than 1,000 plants at cannabis farm in West Yorkshire

A man has been arrested after a large cannabis farm was discovered by police in Dewsbury town centre.

More than 1,000 cannabis plants were found in the building in Daisy Hill by Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team.

One man has been arrested and officers are trying to find others that they believe were involved.

The electricty in the building had also been bypassed, potentially creating a fire risk.

A statement on West Yorkshire Police's Dewsbury Facebook page said: "Officers from Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a Drugs Warrant at a property on Daisy Hill, Dewsbury Town Centre, where they located a substantial Cannabis Farm with over 1000 Cannabis Plants.

"One male is currently in custody and enquiries are ongoing to locate others.

"The building was secured until it could be made safe as the Electricity system was bypassed."
